Guest Services Volunteers work throughout the Zoo providing information and interpretation about the Zoo and its animals to visitors. Guest Services is suitable for those who like working with the public.

Education Volunteers provide support for school groups and the Zoo’s education team. Education is suitable for those who enjoy working with students in a more formal program.

Animal enrichment, animal watch and water testing volunteers are involved in the creation of enrichment devices for our animals; monitoring Zoo animal behaviour; and scientific research such as water testing. Animal watch, enrichment and water testing is suitable for those who prefer less face-to-face interaction with the public.

Administration/Office volunteers assist with clerical and administrative duties in a range of areas in the Zoo. Administration is suitable for those who prefer indoor tasks.

Volunteer Keepers and Food Prep Volunteers assist the keepers with general keeping duties including cleaning exhibits and food preparation. Life Sciences is suitable for people prepared for hard work, early hours, all weather and manual tasks.

Fundraising Volunteers provide support to the Taronga Foundation with special fundraising events and external fundraising activities. Fundraising is suitable for outgoing people who enjoy socialising and networking.

Bush care volunteers assist horticulture staff with bush regeneration and care, mainly of native foreshore property. Suitable for those with green fingers or those who simply enjoy the great outdoors.

Special Events Volunteers assist with larger, irregular events such as Twilight Concerts. Suitable for those who have less time to contribute to volunteering.
